![]() ![]() Likewise, the mod file itself is also compressed using the “rar” format for some bizarre reason – so you’ll have to download everyone’s favourite 40-day trial if your want to play it. Since I am using Intel HD 2500 integrated graphics, I had to turn the settings down a little (eg: using the game’s software renderer instead of Open GL etc…) and this mod will probably look slightly better if you have an actual graphics card. However, all of the screenshots here will be from my playthrough of “The Plutonia Experiment”. This mod will also apparently work with “Vanilla” fan-made WADs too. I used version 3.4.1 of the GZ Doom source port to play through my favourite official IWAD (“The Plutonia Experiment” from “Final Doom” □ ) with this mod and, sometime after I wrote the first draft of this review, “Ultimate Doom” too. And, although I’ve already reviewed an older version of it way back in 2013 and also reviewed the new levels that were included with a slightly less old version in 2016, I thought that I’d take a look at what was the most current version at the time of writing – “ Brutal Doom V.21 Gold“. Hi everyone! So after i played Brutal Doom for the first time back when version 19 was released, i saw many addons for this game.Well, every three or four years or so, I suddenly find myself interested in taking another look at the famous “Brutal Doom” mod for the classic “Doom” games again. But not many people that created those mods were telling, how to install those mods and play them. Some people just told me to drag and drop mod files in to sourceport exe file, which i'm using to play Brutal Doom, like Zandronum.exe or GZDoom.exe and then start the game with those addons. ![]() Others told me that, there was some mod launcher program that allows you to launch your game with addons. But i found different method, that allows me to play Brutal Doom with addons, and that is better, in my opinion, than those other methods. To tell you about that method, because you might not know about it. Brutal doom gzdoom install#Īnd also this method works for installing Brutal Doom itself, so i will talk about it in the first place and then we will get to, how to install addons for Brutal Doom. Now, this method is about creating a txt file, which later you will rename from txt in to bat, which you can then launch to play your Brutal Doom with any addon for it. Trust me, i tried it with the other games, but it didn't worked, for me at least.Īlso, this method works only for Brutal Doom. NOTE: This method works for ANY sourceport which you will use to play your Brutal Doom with it's addons. And i'm talking about sourceports like Zandronum, GZDoom, LZDoom, ZDoom and others. So yeah, it doesn't matter which sourceport you are using for this method. How to create bat file to play Brutal Doom:ġ. Download any sourceport, all doom wad files and Brutal Doom mod and put it in the same folder with any name.Ģ. In that folder create txt file with any name and open it via any text editor, like NotePad or WordPad or any other.ģ. In that txt file that you just opened type the name of exe file of your sourceport, and then press spacebar, put the line - in there and after that line put "" and between those two "" type the name of Brutal Doom mod file. And that should look like this: zandronum.exe -file "brutalv21.pk3"Ĥ. After that save the changes that you just did and close your txt file.ĥ. Now, to rename your txt file from txt to bat, i'm using file manager called Total Commander. And if you are using it too, then just Right Click on that txt file and select Change Name option, or Rename, whatever it's called in your case. After that, simply change that txt name of your file to bat and press Enter to save changes.Īnd that's it. You now created a bat file, which you will be using to play Brutal Doom. Now just launch that bat file, select your Doom game ( Doom, Ultimate Doom or Doom 2) and have fun playing it. ![]() Juts don't forget to configure the game itself how you want.īut that's not all. You can edit that bat file if you want, simply renaming it back to txt the same way you did before. ![]()
